Brian Hanson is a practical self-reliance educator who helps ordinary people become less dependent, more capable, and better prepared for an uncertain world.
After spending most of his professional career as an IT developer, Brian became increasingly aware of how heavily modern life depends on systems outside our control – including the power grid, food supply chains, water utilities, communication networks, and other everyday services most families take for granted.
Rather than simply worrying about rising costs, outages, shortages, and disruptions, Brian began building greater resilience into his own life. Through years of research, hands-on experimentation, trial and error, and plenty of lessons learned the hard way, he developed practical experience with growing food, solar power, water collection and storage, backup heating, emergency planning, resource conservation, and other essential self-reliance systems.
Today, Brian grows a large portion of his own vegetables, continues to expand and improve his household systems, and applies a methodical, problem-solving approach to every new project. His technical background helps him take subjects that can initially feel complicated or overwhelming and break them down into clear, manageable steps that everyday people can understand and apply.
As a husband of more than 30 years, a father of two grown daughters, and a grandfather of two, Brian’s interest in self-reliance has always been deeply connected to protecting and providing for the people he loves. He created this masterclass to help you avoid unnecessary mistakes, spend your time and money more wisely, and begin building greater freedom, security, confidence, and peace of mind – wherever you are starting from today.
